The ceremony that took place on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the esplanade of the Buea Central Prison was presided over by the Chief Executive Officer of the Organisation; Mr Sama Raphael Ndaghu.
Addressing the indormates, the CEO urged the over 1500 inmates present at the event to work towards being responsible citizens willing to enhance the growth of the society upon their release. Mr Sama Raphael holding in high esteem the mission of OTI which is centered on Transforming Prison Yards into Dormitory Schools, revealed the live transforming goals of the Organization for the year 2019, Goals which he said are focused on inducing Primary school Education, Poultry farming and Computer education in Prisons.
It should be noted that this humanitarian gesture of Operation Total Impact is driven by their civil belief that; Offering second chance education to prisoners could significantly motivate them to becoming responsible and up-to-date citizens even upon their release.
It is worth mentioning that the Buea Central Prison harbors over 2000 inmates with a great number comprising youths, school drop outs and minors thus if not properly been bred up with such education while in prison, they might fall the same victimsProviding formal education and vocational training to incarcerated and quarantined youths in prisons constitute a priority for our organization. Upon their release and still end up back in prisons.
To mitigate this, OTI has therefore adapted Correctional education into Cameroonian prisons in a bid to guide indormates develop positive skills and potentials for a responsible citizen when integrated back into the society.
